All of the images displayed on this website are the work of Mike Scott. Born in the UK before the advent of colour photography, Mike trained as a Mechanical Engineer and worked for many years in the steel, copper and aluminium industries in such exotic locations as Hartlepool (UK), Kitwe (Zambia), Sar Chesmeh (Iran) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates) before emigrating to Australia in 2001.

Mike has been an 'enthusiastic amateur' photographer for most of his life with his roots firmly steeped in traditional photographic techniques and processes. After moving to Australia to live, he trained for two years as a professional photographer and established his own Brisbane based photography business, aptly named BeamMeUp Photography.

A keen advocate of traditional photography, and black and white darkroom printing processes in particular, Mike firmly believes that the art of good quality photographs still lies in the eye of the photographer. Having recognized the need several years ago to move with the 'digital revolution' however, he now works almost exclusively with digital images and processes.

That said, in the interests of image quality and realism, Mike always aims to minimize the amount of digital manipulation in all of his photographs.

'I enjoy everything about the classical traditions of the photographic process, and don't believe that it receives sufficient recognition as a unique art-form in today's world of image graphics'.
